Hard Exclusive Production of a Vector Meson
The processes of a light neutral vector meson, V = ρ 0 , ω, φ, electroproduction and a heavy quarkonium, V = J/Ψ, Υ, photoproduction are studied in the framework of QCD factorization. We derive a complete set of hard-scattering amplitudes which describe these processes at next-to-leading order (NLO).
متن کاملThe Transverse Cross Section in Exclusive Vector Meson Production
Exclusive production of vector mesons at HERA has attracted a lot of attention in recent years because of the theoretical suggestion that this is a good way to measure the gluon distribution, as simple arguments 1 suggest that the cross section behaves as the square of xg(x). Recently, these arguments have been formalised and extended by Collins, Frankfurt and Strikman in the context of a facto...
متن کاملInterference in exclusive vector meson production in heavy-Ion collisions
Vector mesons are produced copiously in peripheral relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Virtual photons from one ion can fluctuate into quark-antiquark pairs and scatter from the second ion, emerging as vector mesons. The emitter and target are indistinguishable, so emission from the two ions will interfere. Vector mesons have negative parity so the interference is destructive, reducing the produ...
متن کاملExclusive Vector Meson Production in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions
Exclusive vector meson production reactions such as Au + Au → Au + Au + V, where V = ρ, ω, φ or J/ψ can proceed through photon-Pomeron and photon-meson interactions. Photons from the electromagnetic field of one nucleus interact coherently with the other nucleus. Photonuclear cross sections are scaled from γp data, and convoluted with the photon spectrum to find the exclusive rates. The cross s...
متن کاملThe Pomeron in Exclusive J/ψ Vector Meson Production
Elastic production of vector mesons in electronproton interaction has provided a deeper understanding of the diffraction phenomenon and finds a sensible description in a variety of models. The first attempts to describe diffractive photoproduction were based on vector dominance model [1] and Regge theory [2]. Since various aspects of the deep inelastic scattering and of elastic processes are bo...
